Charlie is Two Months Old!
Posted 05/04/12 by Amy in Posts|#
Charlie is even bigger than he was a month ago. It’s hard to believe that clothes that were baggy on him when he was born can’t even get on him now. But I guess that’s the way these things go. Some highlights from this month include:
- Charlie smiles! And it’s not just because he can’t control his face. He’s actually happy about things. He’s usually happy about his mommy or daddy talking to him about what a great baby he is.
- He’s met the cute baby in the mirror. They can stare at each other for quite some time.
- The days are starting to follow a more predictable routine. These include much longer periods of Charlie being awake and happy.
- Mabelle has discovered that Charlie’s fingers and toes are fun to lick.
- I have gone back to work. This has resulted in a lot less housework getting done. Charlie doesn’t seem to mind it though.

These past two months have been fun. It’s exciting to see Charlie learn new things all the time. I’m so glad to be his momma.
Newborn Photo Shoot

Our friend Mary of Honey Heart Photography took some newborn portraits of Charlie. These pictures are just further proof that Charlie is the cutest baby in the world.
Getting these pictures done was a lesson in newborn cooperation. In other words, we learned about how newborns don’t always cooperate. Charlie was not a happy baby during our first attempt at the photo shoot. Thankfully Mary was very understanding and offered to come back another day.
During our second attempt we were able to get Charlie in the outfit I made for him. (Thanks, Tina, for the crochet lesson and chunky blue yarn!) At first he was a little grumpy about it. He’s like his Daddy and doesn’t believe in getting dressed up. But he warmed up to it and gave us some nice poses.
Of course, Mabelle couldn’t let Charlie get all the attention. She hopped up to get in on the action.
There are a ton more cute pictures at Chris’s Flickr page. Click here to see them all!
Charlie is One Month Old!

My baby boy is growing up. It’s hard to believe that’s it’s already been a month since he was born. Already he’s started growing out of his newborn clothes, he stays awake for longer than 10 minutes at a time, and he sometimes manages to get his fingers in his mouth. And even though he can’t engage in sparkling conversation yet, he’s managed to bring more visitors to our house during his one month of life than Chris and I have had in our almost five years of marriage. I can’t imagine how popular he will be once he learns to sing and dance.
Some other highlights from his life include:
- The discovery of the family folk songs Pandora station. He enjoys dancing to such classics as “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” and “Old Suzanna.”
- Developing a somewhat regular nighttime schedule of screaming at about 9:30, falling asleep by midnight, eating at 4:30, and then again at 6:00. It’s not ideal, but we’ve all adjusted just fine.
- Finding a common hobby with his sister Mabelle in our daily walks around the neighborhood. Mabelle gets her exercise, Charlie gets lulled to sleep, and Mommy and Daddy get a chance to talk in peace.
It’s been exciting to see Charlie start to take in the world around him during this first month. I’m glad I get to be his Mama and watch him grow up and become the person God made him to be.
Sleepy Charlie

Charlie sleeps a lot. But not in his crib. We’ve found his favorite places to sleep are in his car seat and in my arms. He’s super cute and cuddly when he falls asleep like that, but it does make it hard to do anything. Hopefully he’ll learn to like his crib eventually. In the meantime I’ll just be thankful I don’t have a lot on my to-do list right now and enjoy the cuddles.
Charlie’s First Bath

Charlie had his first bath yesterday. He seemed to enjoy it. Or at least he found it tolerable. It got a little old toward the end though.
